Stephen Barker talks about the part Bucks played in the Civil War. Mainly Parliamentarian supporting, there were nevertheless pockets of Royalist supporters. The county’s proximity to the Royalist capital at Oxford meant that conflict was consistant and widespread. Find out about John Hampden, the Battle of Aylesbury and garrisons at Brill, Boarstall, Stony Stratford and Newport Pagnell.  All are welcome to attend the meeting at The Methodist Church Hall, Queensway, Bletchley at 7.30. Wednesday 1st November 2023.

The talk explains political and military context, yet includes a significant number of personal stories, anecdotes and legacies relating to those caught up in the action.

The meeting will start at 7.30 pm and will be free for members, any non members who may wish to attend will be charged £2. Teas and Coffees will be available after the meeting.  We would love to see folk back together again and look forward to seeing you all at
