John T Smith will present a review of crime in England in the 18th century and the transporting of over 60,000 offenders to lands beyond the seas – and before they were sent to Australia! Botany Bay, Van Diemen’s Land and New South Wales were used later on, and we know about their history, but most people haven’t much idea of where we exported our Buckinghamshire felons before 1787. Come and find out!
