|Steeple Claydon: Before & After Enclosure|
Julian Hunt contrasts the early 18th century private enclosure of Addington, a closed village, with that of Steeple Claydon – a neighbouring and much larger open village, enclosed by Act of Parliament in 1795. It will feature the personalities behind each enclosure, including members of the Verney, Busby and Hubbard families. It will also show how enclosure dramatically affected people’s lives at all levels of society.
