20220510 Ian Waller Reading Old Handwriting

The monthly branch meeting at Bourne End Community Centre with a talk by Ian Waller  on Reading old Handwriting on Tuesday 10th May at 19:45. Old handwriting can be a struggle for the family historian, but the unpicking a text brings deeper meaning to your research. It is well worth the effort and practice to be less dependent on trancriptions.

Many documents used by family historians from census returns to medieval manuscripts can be difficult to read. This talk provides pointers to help you interpret what you are looking at and how to decipher the various handwriting styles in use over the ages.

Visitors are very welcome. Entrance is free for members and £2 for non-members (or why not take out an annual membership from as little as £6).

Meetings are held in the Eghams Room at Bourne End Community Centre. Wakeman Road, Bourne End, SL8 5SX. See Southern Branch for details & charges.
